Eyebrow Tattoo in Hongdae, CYAN
When people research eyebrow tattoos in Hongdae, they often start with the technique — microblading, powder or combo. At CYAN we settle a different question first: what impression these brows give of you. Even with the same eyebrow tattoo, the point where crisp meets natural shifts with your face shape, brow hair pattern and everyday vibe. We design the impression that fits your face, not a trending brow shape.
Microblading draws hair strokes one at a time for a natural, hair-like flow; powder brows fill in soft, misty shading for a makeup-like finish; combo brows combine the two for more dimension. CYAN does all three, and which one suits you depends on your natural brow density, skin type and the mood you want — so instead of pushing one as the right answer, we walk you through the comparison in consultation.
Design is not about making the two sides symmetrical. We read the distance to your eyes, nose and mouth, and the flow of your forehead and brow bone, to shape an impression that stays memorable. Because semi-permanent makeup is hard to undo once started, we draw it on, check it together in the mirror, and only proceed once you agree.
If you are unhappy with brows you already have, we read them before covering anything. Analyzing the leftover color and shape to decide what to keep and what to hide is where a cover-up begins. Whether it is new work or a correction, the color that looks dark right after the session fades as the scabbing lifts, and we usually refine it with a touch-up (retouch) around 6–8 weeks later; how long it lasts varies with skin oiliness, sun exposure and aftercare.
What changes with the technique
Brows divide broadly into drawing strokes as lines (microblading), filling shade as a soft area (powder), and combining the two (combo).Strokes give a flow that reads like real hair but depend heavily on skin type; shading fills softly like makeup and tends to sit more evenly on skin with more oil.All three are done here in Hongdae.
It is less about which is better than which holds evenly on your own skin. That is why oil, pore size and skin thickness are read before the technique is chosen, and the balance is set in the consultation with your actual skin in front of us.
How healing unfolds
For the first few days the colour looks at its darkest.Around a week in, a thin layer of flaking lifts and the colour lightens noticeably — pulling it off takes the colour with it, so it is left to come away on its own.
By weeks four to six the colour settles lighter than it started. That point is not the retouch moment but the settling stretch; the retouch comes at six to eight weeks once the skin has fully healed, filling in what did not hold. How long it lasts varies with skin and daily habits.
What determines the cost of an eyebrow tattoo
Even on the same feature, the amount of work varies from person to person.Filling with shading alone takes less time than adding hair-stroke detail on top of it, and building a shape from scratch when almost no natural hair is left is different work from filling in a few sparse gaps.
The biggest difference comes from whether an older tattoo is still there. When previous pigment has faded to red or blue, that colour has to be read and counteracted before a new design goes over it, so the plan is not the same as it would be for first-time brows. The touch-up at six to eight weeks is a separate line, and we say so before you decide.
That is why we do not quote a figure before seeing your brows. We look at the remaining colour, the hair pattern and the impression you want during the consultation, and give you a figure then.Price ranges for each service are listed in the pricing guide below.
How the design gets decided
We start by asking how you usually fill in your brows and how you want to be seen.If that is hard to put into words, bring a photo. We will not copy the brows in the photo, though. We take apart why those brows suit that person, and translate the reasoning into a shape that suits your face.
Then we draw it on you with a design pencil.Looking at the brow bone, the distance to your eyes, the width of your forehead and the natural asymmetry between the two sides, we set where the head of the brow sits, how high the arch goes and at what angle the tail falls. You check it in the mirror, and we work only from the shape you agree to.Anything that bothers you gets redrawn at this stage, as many times as it takes.
Once the shape is settled, we choose the colour, weighing your skin undertone, your hair tone and how heavy your usual makeup is.The work itself takes around two hours, but with the consultation and the design stage included, it is easier to leave half a day free.
Getting to Hongdae, and how much time to set aside
Hongik University Station is where Line 2, the Airport Railroad and the Gyeongui-Jungang Line meet, so it is usually reachable without a transfer from across Seoul, the north-west of Gyeonggi Province and Incheon Airport.Because the Airport Railroad runs straight through, some clients fit a session into a travel itinerary.
Your first visit covers consultation, design and the procedure in one go, so set aside about half a day.The touch-up at around six to eight weeks tends to be shorter, since the shape is already settled. We share the exact address once your booking is confirmed.
If you are travelling from another region or from abroad, coming back for the touch-up in one trip may not be practical. We check when you could realistically return while booking the first session, and adjust colour and depth accordingly if a second visit is difficult.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between powder brows and combo brows?
Powder brows are shading-focused for a soft, makeup-like look, while combo brows add hair-stroke detail for more dimension. If your natural brows are sparse or you want soft shading, powder brows tend to suit you; if you want the dimension of hair strokes, combo brows do — but it also depends on your skin type, so it is best decided in consultation.
Can men have it done too?
Yes, we do men's brow tattoos as well. For men, we often design in a way that keeps the brow-hair pattern, angle and growth direction looking natural. We adjust the density and shape to the impression you want.
How long does it last?
Because it is semi-permanent makeup, it fades gradually over time. How long it lasts varies a lot from person to person depending on skin oiliness, sun exposure and aftercare habits, and once it fades you can refine it with a touch-up.
I have brows done somewhere else. Can you go straight over them?
It depends on how dark and how deep the remaining pigment is, and on the shape. If the colour has faded and the shape is not far off, a new design can usually be laid over it. If the colour is still strong, or the shape is very different from what you want, it often works better to split the work across more than one session rather than covering everything at once. We look at your brows and decide the order together in the consultation.
What should I do before my appointment?
Come with the brow area free of makeup. If you normally draw your brows in, a photo of the shape you usually go for gives us a useful reference during the consultation. Avoid saunas, swimming and anything else that makes you sweat heavily on the day and the day after. If you are feeling unwell or have anything on your mind, let us know when you book.
How much does an eyebrow tattoo in Hongdae cost?
Price ranges for each service are published on the pricing page, so you can look before you come. Where within that range you land is decided once we see your brows. Send an enquiry through the form and we will arrange a time; after looking at your brows we give you a figure for the first session, with the touch-up line stated separately. You are free to decide after hearing it.
Do you do microblading in Hongdae?
Yes. Hand-drawn hair strokes (microblading), powder brows and combo are all done at CYAN in Hongdae, by the same artist. Powder gradation is our signature, but the technique is chosen for your skin — oily or thick skin tends to hold shading more evenly, while normal or dry skin can keep individual strokes crisp — so we look at your skin in the consultation before recommending one.
