One brow can reshape your whole impression
On the same face, a small shift in the position, angle, or length of the brows can change the entire impression. That's why CYAN doesn't decide on a "pretty brow shape" first. We look for the point on your face that reads as most attractive, then read the features, bone structure, and the placement of your eyes and nose, and design the brows to fit all of it. The goal is a face that looks a little smaller and more defined, and an impression that feels approachable and well put together.

It suits anyone who finds penciling brows every morning a chore, or whose face looks bare even with just a tinted sunscreen. Many people come in wanting to define the bridge of the nose a little more, balance out the length of the face, or fix a tail that looks empty or brows that don't quite match left to right. Even if you think "my brows are so short, is it even possible?" — that's fine. We work with the hair you already have first and only fill in what's missing, so we can look at it together in the consultation.
Powder or hair strokes — the answer depends on your skin
Brow PMU broadly comes in powder (building up soft shading), hair strokes (drawing the texture one hair at a time), and a combination of the two. Hair strokes aren't automatically the most natural choice. On oily skin, the stroke lines can blur and clump, so powder or a combination often settles more cleanly. CYAN decides on the technique by looking at both your skin type and the mood you want — an approach the founder has also taught directly to clinic teams in Japan. What's right for you can only be decided once we see your skin, so we settle it together in the consultation.
We pick the color for 1–2 years from now, not just today
Brow color looks darkest right after the procedure and shifts in tone as it settles into the skin. Worried it might pull red or blue down the line? That's exactly why we don't choose the color that looks prettiest in the mirror today — we pick the pigment by calculating how it will settle on your skin's undertone over the next 1–2 years. Directions like ash, light, gold, or dark are decided after hearing about your hair color and makeup preferences too. That said, the same pigment develops differently depending on skin thickness, oiliness, and constitution, so an exact color is hard to promise from photos alone — we match it while looking at your skin in the consultation.
If your muscles move a lot, we may suggest Botox first
Brows follow the movement of the muscles above them. If one brow lifts much higher when you make expressions, or the muscle is well developed, even a perfectly symmetrical design can look slightly off in your everyday expressions. So in some cases we suggest settling the movement with Botox first, then doing the procedure. We don't push it on everyone — we look at your usual expressions together in the consultation and only mention it honestly when it's needed. Since this varies case by case, seeing it in person is the most accurate.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it hurt?
Brows are one of the less painful areas. Because we work in the shallow layers of the skin, most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure or a light scratching feeling.
How long does the procedure take?
A full session typically takes 2-3 hours, including consultation, design, and the procedure itself.
What is the downtime?
Expect mild redness for 1-2 days. The brows will appear darker initially and lighten by 30-40% as they heal over 4-6 weeks.
Do I need a touch-up?
Yes — one touch-up is included in the price, carried out 6-8 weeks after the initial procedure to finalize the color and shape.
Is this suitable for my skin type?
Powder brows place fewer demands on skin type — they tend to settle relatively stably even on oily skin, where hair-stroke lines can blur and clump. That said, the same pigment develops and lasts differently depending on skin thickness, oiliness, and undertone, so we check your skin in the consultation and adjust the color and density accordingly.
One of my brows droops more, or they don't match left to right — can you make them even?
We balance the two sides as much as possible at the design stage, and partway through we have you sit up so we can recheck symmetry based on your seated face. That said, it's sometimes hard to make them identical with pigment alone when there are differences in how the muscles above the brow move or in bone structure — in those cases we may suggest Botox first. How even we can get them depends on your expressions and bone structure, so it's case by case and we look at it in the consultation.
I'm worried the color will turn red or blue over time.
Old brow tattoos that turned red or blue were often a matter of the pigment and the depth. Now we choose pigment by calculating how it will settle on your skin's undertone 1–2 years out, which lowers that risk. Even so, color development can vary with your skin constitution, so we can't make absolute promises — we match it in the most stable direction while looking at your skin in the consultation.
I still have an old brow tattoo — can you work over it?
If the remaining color is faint and the shape isn't badly off, a cover-up (reform) that overlays a new design is possible — think of it like reworking an old garment into something new. But if the existing color is very dark or has gone blue, removal may be needed first. It's hard to promise from photos alone; we need to see the actual residual state to be accurate. Is powder brows suitable for deeper skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV–VI)?
Yes — powder brows can be done on deeper skin tones. The thing to plan for is undertone: richer skin often carries warmer or deeper undertones, so pigment is chosen with how it will settle over the next year or two in mind, not just how it looks on the day, to keep the brows from pulling too warm or ashy as they heal. Because the same pigment develops differently depending on skin thickness, undertone, and how you heal, we go lighter first and refine the color and depth at the touch-up rather than committing to a bold result in one pass.
