Why CYAN's eyeliner
Even a line of the same thickness gives a completely different impression depending on eye shape, length, and the direction of the outer corner. CYAN doesn't simply fill in a line — we start from "what kind of eyes do you want to be remembered for" and decide together where to sit between defined and soft. How it flows — eyes have to be open to be read
The procedure is done with the eyes closed, following the lash line, but a line's impression is only properly read with the eyes open. So we have you sit up partway through and check left-right balance and thickness with your eyes open. A line that looks pretty on closed eyes can differ from one that suits open eyes, so we go through this check several times.
Healing — the eye area is thin, so we tell you straight
The skin around the eyes is thin, so for the first few days the line looks darker and sharper than expected, then softens as the flaking falls off and settles. Don't be alarmed if it looks dark now — that's the normal process. During healing, please pause lash perms, extensions, and curlers, and we'll tell you separately in the care guidance when you can wear mascara and contacts. The eye area is delicate, so this handful of days strongly affects how the color settles.
Why it turns blue, and how we correct it
An existing line showing through blue is often because the pigment went in too deep or faded and discolored over time. CYAN looks at the remaining color and depth and decides whether to overlay on top to balance the tone, or whether it's better to lighten it first. That said, the result varies with the remaining color and skin condition — it's case by case — so rather than promising it'll be clean in one go, we look at your actual eyes in the consultation and tell you honestly what's achievable.
Thickness and color — chosen by impression
Natural, classic, smoky, and wing are just style names; in practice we work backward from the impression you want — whether you want eyes to look bigger or just more defined — to decide thickness and length. The range is wide, from filling only between the lashes for a barely-there look to a lifted tail, but we stay within what doesn't harm your eye shape. Color too, between black and brown, is chosen to match your iris color and mood.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is eyeliner PMU painful?
The eye area is sensitive, so we work with your eyes comfortably closed and relaxed. Most clients describe it as mild tingling rather than pain. If it's uncomfortable, we can pause partway through.
How long does the session take?
Typically 1.5-2 hours including design time.
What to expect after?
Mild swelling for 1-2 days. Avoid rubbing eyes and wear sunglasses outdoors during healing.
Is a touch-up needed?
Yes — one touch-up is included in the price and is done 6-8 weeks after the initial procedure to even out the color distribution.
Is it safe for the eyes?
We work along the lash line, avoiding the inner rim, using professional pigments and disinfected tools. The procedure is done with your eyes comfortably closed so there's no direct stimulation to the eye during the work. Please remove your contact lenses before coming in on the day of your procedure.
I heard black sometimes turns blue?
If pigment goes in too deep, or fades over time, it can show through bluish. CYAN works at a depth where the color settles well, and sometimes recommends a grey-brown or brown tone instead of black to reduce that discolored look. Correcting a line that has already gone blue depends on the remaining color and condition, so we look at it in person and advise in the consultation.
When is the best time to do eyeliner relative to double-eyelid surgery?
After double-eyelid surgery, the gap between the line and the mucosa often looks empty, so many people want to fill it — but the design is most accurate once the swelling goes down and the lid has settled. We usually recommend after surgical recovery is well along, but recovery speed varies a lot between people, so we decide the exact timing by looking at your eye condition in the consultation.
Can I get lash extensions or a perm at the same time?
On the day of the eyeliner procedure and during healing, please avoid lash extensions, perms, and curlers. Stimulation and chemicals on the treated area can affect how the color settles and how it heals. We usually recommend doing those once the line has fully healed, and we'll map out the order and timing together in the care guidance.
