What is designed differently for men
Men's brows are less about filling in than about looking as though nothing was done. The goal is not definition but going unnoticed, so density, texture and line are set differently even for the same procedure.
Men's skin tends to be thicker in the dermis with more oil, so colour spreads or fades more readily. Following the actual hair direction stroke by stroke, rather than filling the shape as a block, is what keeps it from reading as drawn-on from the front.
When brows and scalp are considered together
Brows alone change the impression, but if the hairline or crown is also on your mind, the two areas need matched tone to stay balanced.Strong brows against a sparse hairline increase the contrast rather than reduce it.
Healing and session counts differ by area, so splitting the dates works better than doing everything on one day.Which comes first is decided in the consultation, starting from whatever bothers you most right now.
Who comes in for this
Photographs are the most common trigger.Someone has a corporate headshot or an ID photo taken, sees for the first time that their brows look sparse or that the two sides do not match, and comes in.What is hard to notice in a mirror shows up plainly in a head-on photograph.
Men whose brows are naturally thin at the head or the tail also come in often, as do those with a scar breaking one side.In those cases the work is not redrawing the whole brow but filling the gaps so the two sides line up.
Ages run evenly from the twenties to the fifties, and lately more men come in asking about brows alongside their hairline or crown density.Whichever it is, the first rule is that it should not read as something that was done.
If your brow hair is coarse or dense
Men often have thick brow hair growing in mixed directions.Here, tidying the existing flow and filling the gaps that show through works more naturally than adding drawn strokes.A stroke drawn over coarse hair only makes that patch stand out.
Men with dense brows have the work done too, but for a different reason: not to fill, but to define an edge.If the brow spreads out or grows untidily toward the centre, we decide what to keep and even out the density inside that boundary.
At the other end, if there is almost no hair, the shape has to be built from scratch.There we start light rather than dark, see how it settles against the face, and raise the depth at the next session.
When to book if you have something important coming up
For the first few days the colour looks at its strongest.Men tend to be particularly conscious of this stage, but the flaking usually clears at around a week and the colour drops noticeably.If you have an important meeting or a shoot, leave at least two weeks between it and the appointment.
Many men struggle to find time on weekdays, so it is easier to book the touch-up at the same time as the first consultation.The touch-up is shorter than the first session, since the shape is already settled.
If starting dark feels like too much, another route is to keep the first session deliberately light, live with it for a couple of weeks, and decide the final depth at the touch-up.It is what we most often suggest to men whose main worry is that it will be noticeable.

Can it be done so it is not obvious on men?
By following the natural hair direction and dialing the density down, it can be made to look close to your own brows rather than like makeup. That said, how natural it looks varies with your original brow density and skin, so we tune it to the impression you want during consultation.
Won't it look too dark or artificial?
For men we usually work by filling sparse spots along the natural hair direction rather than filling in heavily, which reduces an artificial look. The density and shape are confirmed in the pre-treatment design, and we proceed only after you agree.
How long does it last?
Because it is semi-permanent, it fades gradually over time. How long it lasts varies a lot with skin oiliness, sun exposure and lifestyle, and once it fades you can refine it with a touch-up.

My brows are already fairly dense. Is there any point?
We start by checking whether a procedure is warranted at all. Even with dense brows, the two sides can differ in length or angle, or the head of the brow alone can be empty enough to show in a head-on photograph. Just as often, grooming is enough on its own, and in that case we will say so rather than recommend a procedure. We look at your brows and tell you which it is.
I have a wedding or an interview coming up. When should I book?
At least four weeks before the date. The colour is strong for the first few days and drops once the flaking clears at around a week, but it takes four to six weeks to settle. If you want to be at the finished stage with the touch-up done, leave eight weeks or more. If there is less time than that, we can do as much as fits and push the rest back.
